Leigh Davis Smart
Group Chairman
Since 1988, Leigh has developed The Davis Group into one of the largest independent commercial brokerages in the country. During that time he has worked hard to make the business a company to be proud of. He established The Davis Group Charitable Trust in 2002 and became a Patron of The Prince’s Trust in 2005 and a founder member of The Insurance Leadership Group. The Group now includes two businesses, Davis Underwriting & Davis Corporate Risks, and over 80 staff. Leigh is also a partner in the JEMCO motor racing team.

Following the sale of the business in September 2007 to Venture Preference (VP), Leigh will now be playing a key role within VP going forward. Whilst he continues to be the CEO of The Davis Group, he will also now be performing the role of Regional Managing Director. VP is the second largest SME broker in the UK.

Kevin Hancock
Group Managing Director
Kevin joined The Davis Group in 1998 after many years working as both an insurer and a broker. Since becoming part of the Group, he has worked hard to develop local business relations and was Chairman of the Newmarket Business Association for three years. He was then approached by the The British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) to become their new Anglia Regional Chairman, representing 170 brokerages. Kevin is also an Honorary Commander at the 48th Fighter Wing at RAF Lakenheath and plays a leading role in the JEMCO racing team.

Anthony Gardiner
Group Broking Director
Anthony’s history at The Davis Group has spanned his entire professional life. His years working within our wide range of transport related industries have made him one of the UK’s experts in this field. He is regularly approached by the haulage industry to comment on insurance related issues within the press. To maintain his expertise, he continues to keep close to his core subject and personally works on many of the new enquiries, both for large fleets and smaller operators.

Anthony Lees
Group Director
Anthony spent many years working within some of the larger insurers and other brokerages before joining the Group in 1999. His experience has placed him in the ideal role of heading up our large underwriting team, Davis Underwriting. He has also been involved with BIBA in the Anglia region since 2001. He works closely with our insurer partners to develop new initiatives that ensure the continued success of our in-house schemes – making sure the products exactly meet our brokers’ needs.

Henrietta Davis Flynn
Group HR & Communications Director
After working abroad for several years in educational publishing (in sales and marketing and as a teacher trainer), Henrietta joined the business in 2000. She has overall responsibility across the Group for all internal and external communication and heads up the marketing, training and HR functions.

Ian Richardson
Group Finance Director
Ian was born, raised and educated in South Africa where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He moved, with his family, to the UK in 1998 to take up a 2-year work contract – it was extended and he’s been here ever since. His commercial experience includes a large road haulage company and corporate head office of a listed UK plc.

Mandy Turnbull
Director, Davis Corporate Risks
Mandy joined The Davis Group in 1994 after first working as an underwriter for a large insurer. Her expertise lies in managing complex commercial cases and this has been recognised by her peers in other industries. She acts as an insurance advisor to a range of trade associations. Along with other members of the board, she is closely involved in developing insurer relations – ensuring our clients get the best possible service.

Peter Bridges
Director, Davis Corporate Risks
Peter came into insurance after five years in banking. Since then, he has been an insurer underwriter in control of 48 branches; a director of a Lloyds brokerage with overall responsibility for development and running of the transit portfolio and the director of a large wholesale book of business. He joined The Group in 2000 and continues to work exclusively on large specialist freight and marine cargo cases.
